The NOW Program

The NOW Program offers diverse women, who are in receipt of Income Assistance and face barriers to employment, the opportunity to participate in a full-time, 28-week program. NOW is designed to build upon their life and employability skills and to assist them in applying those skills during community-based work experiences with local employers.

As well, it is designed increase their assets and support their successful transition into the labour market. Located in Dartmouth, this women-centred program takes place over two phases. The first phase offers participants 14-weeks of life and employability skills, through a combination of workshops in personal development, employability skills and job preparation and computer skills. A GED/Upgrading program is also provided for those interested in participating. The second phase includes 14-weeks of supportive work experience with local employers, as well as employability skills workshops and mentoring opportunities.
